Steve’s long-standing leadership and construction expertise helped shape the success and culture of Smith Kesler & Co. and set a standard of excellence across the firm. He has carried those standards to Smith + Howard, where he leads the Carolinas practice.
Steve joined Smith + Howard (formerly Smith Kesler & Co.) in 1990, became a partner in 1998, and was named managing partner in 2005. With a focus on both attestation and tax services for construction businesses, Steve brings a proactive, client-centered approach grounded in over three decades of experience.
He is a graduate of the University of South Carolina and a member of the South Carolina Association of Certified Public Accountants, the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants, and CICPAC – a national network of construction-focused CPAs. Steve is also active in his church community at First Baptist Church of Spartanburg.
