CPA Partner, Cyber Risk
We grow stronger together; I believe growth happens through relationships. Working with talented team members, passionate clients, and invested community partners challenges me to think beyond the status quo, raise my standards, and continuously improve. Just as iron sharpens iron, I am made stronger by the people around me.
Bryan Geels serves as the Quality Management Partner for Smith + Howard’s Cyber Risk Practice, where he is responsible for advancing the practice’s commitment to quality, innovation, and continuous improvement. Known for challenging the status quo and seeking better ways to serve clients, Bryan has built his career around improving audit quality, streamlining processes, and leveraging technology to create more effective assurance and compliance programs.
With more than 15 years of public accounting experience, Bryan has led hundreds of assurance engagements spanning SOC 1 and SOC 2 examinations, financial statement audits, and risk advisory services. He is recognized for his ability to combine deep technical expertise with practical business insight, helping organizations build compliance programs that are both effective and sustainable.
Bryan is also the Co-Founder of AuditEdge, a technology company built around a simple belief: there is a better way for audit firms and compliance teams to manage audit and compliance programs. Frustrated by the limitations of legacy audit software and the growing complexity of modern GRC platforms, he helped build AuditEdge to simplify workflows, improve quality, and create a more scalable model for assurance and compliance programs. Originally developed alongside the growth of Geels Norton, AuditEdge has evolved into an independent software company helping audit firms modernize audit delivery while providing compliance teams with a powerful yet practical alternative to bloated GRC automation platforms.
A passionate advocate for technology-driven transformation, Bryan has played a leading role in implementing innovative audit methodologies, automation capabilities, and evidence collection technologies that enhance both client experience and engagement quality. His work focuses on helping organizations move beyond compliance as a checkbox exercise and instead leverage governance, risk, and compliance initiatives to strengthen their business.
Bryan enjoys partnering with ambitious organizations that are committed to learning, growing, and challenging the status quo.
