Smith + Howard Advances Strategic Roadmap with Key Technology and Global Leadership Appointments

ATLANTA (September 25, 2025) – Smith + Howard, a nationally recognized accounting and advisory firm, today announced two leadership appointments: Scott Goodwin as Chief Information Officer and Vishal Nair as Director of Operations, India. These hires support the firm’s continued expansion and operational scaling, following a period of rapid growth in which revenue increased more than 200% — from $40 million to $125 million in just two years — driven by acquisitions, new service lines, and technology investments.

In his new role as CIO, Goodwin will lead Smith + Howard’s enterprise technology strategy, overseeing digital transformation, cybersecurity, infrastructure, and IT operations across the firm and its family of companies. He brings over two decades of experience leading digital and operational transformation. Most recently, Goodwin served as Senior Director of IT and Security at biometric-software company Aware, Inc., and previously as Chief Technology Officer at financial-advisory firm Kroll, where he managed global technology operations across nearly 100 offices and led the integration of more than 30 acquisitions.

As part of its global expansion, Smith + Howard has appointed Vishal Nair as Director of Operations, India—a new leadership role based in Bangalore. Reporting to Chief Financial Officer Karthik Krishnamurthy, he will oversee the growth and performance of more than 50 India-based professionals across tax, audit, tech, human resources, marketing, and go-to-market functions. Nair will also lead the establishment of a go-to-market team, expand marketing capabilities to support firmwide growth, and implement a process to streamline acquisition integrations. He brings 25 years of experience in professional services, with leadership roles at Kroll, Nielsen, and Integreon, specializing in Global Capability Center (GCC) leadership, transition management, and large-scale operational transformation.
