Kate Maxwell joined Smith & Howard in 2014 as a manager in our Tax Services Group. Prior to joining Smith & Howard, she spent several years as manager at one of the largest privately-held businesses in the United States and several years with a regional and Big Four firm.
Kate’s experience in industry included managing foreign and domestic entities for an international manufacturer. Her expertise encompasses comprehensive tax compliance, planning and consulting services for complex international and multi-state corporations, partnerships and individuals. Kate has experience in international taxation, state and local tax credits, payroll and sales & use tax consulting.
Kate earned a BS in Management from Georgia Institute of Technology and a Masters of Taxation from Georgia State University. She is a member of the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants and the Georgia Society of Certified Public Accountants. Kate has participated in the past in Mentor Jackets, the Georgia Tech mentoring program, and is a past Treasurer for the Dogwood Place Homeowners Association. She currently volunteers with her sons sports teams where needed. This can range from being team treasurer to being an assistant coach.
Kate, her husband and two sons live in Kennesaw. Outside of work, they live and breathe baseball. Both of her sons play and are they are involved with little league almost year round. They also enjoy going to Atlanta Braves games when they aren’t playing.
