John joined Smith & Howard in 1990 as Audit Partner after spending time at a Big Four firm. He served as partner in charge of our Assurance Services group until November 2010, when he assumed the role of Managing Partner.
John received a BBA in accounting from the University of Georgia. He is a member of the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants and the Georgia Society of Certified Public Accountants and serves on the Board of Advisors of the Metro Atlanta Chamber. In addition, he is an alumnus of Leadership Gwinnett and has served as an Advisory Board member with the YMCA and Big Brothers Big Sisters. John served on the 2016 Volunteer Committee for the Chick-Fil-A Peach Bowl. He is a former Trustee of the Georgia Gwinnett College Foundation, a former member of the Honorary Board of Directors of Special Olympics Georgia and a member of Trinity Lutheran Church, where he has served in various Board capacities. John and his wife live in Decatur. He spends his free time with his family and enjoys tennis, golf and travel and particularly looks forward to trips abroad and beaches "anywhere".
